Important Updates Regarding Submission of Claims – COVID-19

• On March 22, 2022 at 11:59 pm ET, the Uninsured Program will stop accepting claims for testing and treatment due to lack of sufficient funds.
• On April 5, 2022 at 11:59 pm ET, the Uninsured Program will also stop accepting vaccination claims due to a lack of sufficient funds.

North Carolina Database Application for Vital Events – NCDAVE

North Carolina Vital Records is implementing the N.C. Database Application for Vital Events (NCDAVE) system to transition from paper to electronic death records. The Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS) is a secure, web-based, statewide online system used to electronically register death certificates. Effective May 1, 2022, the North Carolina Office of Vital Records requires electronic death registration via NCDAVE. See your partners area announcements for more details.

Join New QPP Newsletter for Small Underserved, and Rural Practices Support The Quality Payment Program’s (QPP) Small, Underserved, and Rural Support (SURS) initiative ended on February 15, 2022 as the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) only provided for 5 years of direct support. CMS is committed to providing continued support and educational resources for small, underserved and rural practices participating in QPP and will continue to have options available.

It is a self-paced Refresher Program for Registered Nurses who want to return to active clinical practice. North Carolina no longer requires a doctor’s prescription for birth control.

People in North Carolina no longer need a doctor’s prescription to get hormonal birth control. Under a new law passed last year that went into effect February 1, contraceptive pills and patches can be bought at local drugstores and community pharmacies — after a brief consultation with a pharmacist.

New Legislation Extends Medicaid for Pregnant Beneficiaries from 60 Days to 12 Months After Birth Effective April 1, 2022

• All Medicaid beneficiaries who are pregnant and have benefits in a program that covers the birth of the child will be able to access full coverage Medicaid benefits for the duration of pregnancy and the extended 12-month postpartum period.
• Prior Authorization guidelines currently in place to limit services related to pregnancy and to other conditions that may complicate pregnancy will be removed.
