Save the Date! 2nd Annual Statewide Quality Forum

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Health Benefits and North Carolina AHEC, in conjunction with the five Medicaid managed care health plans, will host the 2nd Annual Statewide Quality Forum on August 11 from 12:30 – 1:30 PM. The forum is designed to help providers, practice managers, and quality managers succeed with Medicaid Managed Care quality initiatives. Please note this event is virtual. AHEC All Payer Quality Measure Tracker

AHEC is excited to share the new All Payer Quality Measure Tracker, a tool designed to assist you with your quality measure performance for all payers and all incentive programs in the areas of pediatric, adult, and maternal health. Reminder: Tobacco-Related Policy Requirements Effective July 1st

Starting July 1, 2022, NC Medicaid Managed Care Standard plans and Tailored Plans will require contracted providers, to implement a tobacco-free policy covering any portion of the property on which the participating provider operates that is under its control as owner or lessee, to include buildings, grounds, and vehicles. New Billing Codes for Social Drivers of Health

Effective September 2022, North Carolina Medicaid will be implementing a set of new billable codes that capture primary care provider activities to address social drivers of health for their Medicaid members. While all Medicaid providers are encouraged to provide these interventions and screenings, these activities are a key part of the North Carolina Integrated Care for Kids Alternative Payment Model (NC InCK APM). The new codes are related to:

  1. Interventions to promote Kindergarten Readiness, and
  2. Screening for and addressing food- and housing-related needs

Preferred Drug List (PDL) Updated

North Carolina Division of Health Benefits has updated the North Carolina Medicaid and Health Choice Preferred Drug List (PDL) as of April 1st, 2022. The April 2022 update can be found here.

NC Division of Public Health: Now Accepting Intent for Electronic Case Reporting

Eligible clinicians are encouraged to register with the NC Division of Public Heath their intent to submit reportable conditions electronically. By reporting electronically, eligible providers are able to meet federal requirements related to MIPS. To submit intent, please visit the registration site.

Affordable Connectivity Program

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a U.S. government program run by the Federal Communications Commission to help low-income households pay for internet service and connected devices like a laptop or tablet. Household eligibility and the application can be found online at the ACP Homepage.

June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month

In North Carolina, more than 180,000 are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and over 358,000 family and friends are providing care. The Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association serves 51 eastern counties in North Carline and has resources to support providers, families and practices. Here is a small sample of resources practices may find helpful:

Provider Relief Fund – Period 3 Reporting Opens July 1st, 2022

Providers who are required to report in Reporting Period 3:

  • The PRF Reporting Portal will be open between July 1, 2022 and September 30, 2022 at 11:59 PM ET for Reporting Period 3.
  • Providers who received one or more General and/or Targeted PRF payments exceeding $10,000, in the aggregate, from January 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 are required to report on their use of funds in Reporting Period 3.
  • The deadline to use funds for Payment Received Period 3 is June 30, 2022
