Resubmission for Outpatient Billing for Vaccine and Monoclonal Antibody Administration
Providers who originally submitted outpatient COVID-19 administration code claims using claims revenue code 0261 and have not received full reimbursement will need to resubmit with the revenue code 0771. Review the Special Bulletin #243 for additional details.

AHEC Scholars – Application Deadline May 15th
Charlotte AHEC Scholars Program recruits, trains, and supports a diverse group of students enrolled in health professions programs across an 8 county region in North Carolina. We seek individuals committed to improving health and health care through community engagement and team-based care.
Selected applicants participate in a 2-year educational program and will receive a $2000 stipend ($1000 per year). Scholars will also receive 40 hours of clinical observation that will give them an enhanced perspective of healthcare. To learn more or to apply, visit AHEC Scholars.

Vaccine Counseling Code – Extension of the Public Health Emergency
On April 16th, 2022, Health and Human Services Secretary Becerra extended the public health emergency (PHE). The PHE correlates to an extensive list of flexibilities within the healthcare system. These flexibilities include the reimbursement of the vaccination counseling code 99401. For details and a refresher of how to bill the code, see the Special Bulletin #240. Providers are encouraged to counsel Medicaid Beneficiaries on the benefits and risks of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Medicaid Managed Care Performance Improvement Projects
NC Medicaid requires the Medicaid health plan to offer Performance Incentive Payment opportunities to AMH Tier 3 practices and encourages the plans to offer incentive payments to practices in AMH Tiers 1 and 2. The three NC Medicaid PIPs are:
- Childhood Immunization Status (Combination 10) for ages 0-2 years
- Diabetes Management (A1C testing and results)
- Timeliness of Prenatal and Postpartum care

Provider Reverification Requirements to be Reinstated
The NC Medicaid reverification process will resume based on the end of the public health emergency. Beginning Summer of 2022, providers will begin receiving reverification notices again based on approaching reverification due dates, as well as those whose reverification was suspended during the PHE. Update to Enrollment Requirements for Primary Care and Public Health Taxonomies
Providers currently enrolled with one or both taxonomies will be required to submit the required accreditation with the next full manage change request or at re-verification. Providers are encouraged to submit a managed change request now to update the record with the appropriate accreditation to avoid future issues with their enrollment.
