South Piedmont AHEC training facilities are tobacco-free.

Continuing Education certificates are made available after:

• receipt of full payment,
• meeting attendance criteria,
• successful completion of an educational event, and
• completing the event evaluation form (required to receive access to your certificate).

Each reprint of a certificate is $15.

Registration for and attendance at a South Piedmont AHEC event grants permission to use any photographs, audio, video, or other images from this activity for promotional or educational purposes. Please notify an AHEC staff member if you have concerns.

South Piedmont AHEC does not record CPD Virtual (Live Webinars) for viewing after the program or for continuing education credit unless strict adherence to copyright and accreditation guidelines are met.

We are the sole owners of the information collected on these sites. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. Information needed to facilitate the awarding of credit for continuing professional development activities may be shared with that accrediting body strictly to award credit. If an educational event is jointly provided, no information will be shared with the other partners without you receiving notification. If there are exhibitors at the event, your information will not be shared by us. You may choose to provide the information to the exhibitors.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via mail, email or social media in the future to tell you about continuing professional development activities, local AHEC news, NC AHEC initiatives, or changes to this privacy notice.

Your Access to and Control Over Information

You may opt out and/or unsubscribe from AHEC marketing at any time. In addition, you can do the following by contacting us via the email address or phone number given on our website:

Activity registration allows transactional emails for confirmations, handouts, evaluations, certificates, etc. information.

Security

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the Web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personal identifiable information. Cardholder data is not stored. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

Registration

In order to gain access to registration and educational information, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give certain information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact you about the services on our site in which you have expressed interest. At your option, you may also provide demographic information (such as gender or age) about yourself, but it is not required.

Rules of Thumb to Remember

• Assume all images are copyrighted.
• Hyperlink to videos or articles rather than provide a copy. Permission must be obtained to copy/embed or distribute the work to more than one person.
• The source of published material, images, and photographs must be cited – either on the slides or on a reference slide at the end of the presentation. Include author, journal title or website, and year of publication.
• "Fair Use" of copyrighted material applies to classroom education. There are different standards for material posted on a webpage (such as handouts) or recorded/enduring material (webinars or online courses).
• Statutory fines for copyright violations can range from $750 to $150,000 per infraction or per audience member.
