Nurses who precept nursing students and RN Refresher students.
Sponsored by NC AHEC, this live webinar prepares nurse preceptors to work with clinical nursing students, including RN Refresher students. Topics will include the preceptor role, critical thinking, and strategies to improve clinical performance. Additionally, participants will learn strategies on communication, how to manage challenging performance behaviors, and outcome evaluation. The legal implications of being a nurse preceptor will also be discussed.
Participants will receive complimentary access to NC AHEC preceptor modules. Also, in honor of Florence Nightingale’s Birthday, the NC AHEC RN Refresher Committee will mail a free copy of Nightingale’s book, “Notes on Nursing” to all those who attend the program.
Faculty:
Pam A. Collins, MSN, CMSRN, NPD-BC
Pam is an educator at heart! She has 40 years of varied nursing experience, including nurse educator in the hospital and academic settings, leadership/administrative roles, and consultant for Education and Professional Development. Her clinical expertise is primarily medical-surgical nursing, and she is a published author of textbooks and journal publications. Pam also has an extensive background in the legal and ethical aspects of nursing practice. She presents locally and nationally on leadership and legal and ethical topics in healthcare.
Learning Outcome:
Participants will increase their knowledge of evidence-based practices to enhance critical thinking and clinical judgement of nursing and RN Refresher students.

4.0 Contact Hours; 0.4 CEUs
Nurses
4.0 Nursing Contact Hours will be provided to nurses who attend at least 90% of the conference. No partial credit will be provided.
