Please join Mu Psi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International at the Region 13 Biennial Nursing Research Conference. This conference will recognize superior nursing achievements in the following areas: development of leadership qualities, fostering high professional standards in the field, encouraging creative work, and strengthening commitment to the ideals and purposes of the profession. This conference is open to anyone. Membership of Sigma Theta Tau is not required to attend. Participants will have an opportunity to join nursing colleagues from across our three-state region in panel discussions with nursing leaders, engaging plenary sessions, and innovative poster presentations.

A Maximum of 10.25 Nursing Contact Hours will be awarded. Participants must attend at least 90% of the program to earn full CE credit for each day.

South Piedmont Area Health Education Center is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Registration Fees:
Early Registration Fee for the entire conference (April 26 & 27): $250 before 4/15. $275 after 4/15.
Early Registration Fee for Friday Only (April 26): $200 before 4/1. $220 after 4/15
Student Registration for the entire conference (April 26 & 27):$200

Objectives

• Bibb: Review some of the major elements of the Journey of Caring in Nursing.
• Bibb: Interpret some meanings of the phrase “Spirit of Inquiry” in relationship to Nursing Professional Development, Research, and Evidence Based Practice.
• Bibb: Determine how Sigma Nursing Professional Development, Research and Evidence-Based Practice Resources can provide support for communicating caring and caring inquiry
• Hrelic: Describe 2 interventions used to combat nurse faculty stress.
• Hrelic: Identify 3 ways in which nursing faculty are currently experiencing heightened levels of stress in the workplace, and its effect on retention and the nursing shortage.
• Hrelic: 3. Discuss 3 items of advice that seasoned nursing faculty would give to new faculty, to assist in their success.
• Talbot: Describe the role of interfaith concepts in caring for diverse patients.
• Talbot: Identify ways you might incorporate your own clinical practice into the development of a case study that includes interfaith concepts.
• Harrison: Describe the “3 Wishes Project: as a method of providing individualized end-of-life care in the ICU setting.
• Troutman-Jordan: Identify three characteristics of a good nurse leader.
• Troutman-Jordan: Identify your own leadership style.
• Troutman-Jordan: Describe two strategies to foster development as a leader.
• Smith-Miller: List three of the factors that nurses identified as being the most important factors in their decision to stay.
• Scoggins: Name 3 signs and symptoms of burnout and its effects on teammates and the organization.
• Scoggins: Describe how burnout effects the organization.
• Scoggins: Identify 3 components involved in evidenced-based guidelines for implementing well0being initiatives.
• Scoggins: Identify implementation barriers for well-being initiatives.
• Scoggins: Discuss ways to promote the sustainability of a well-being initiative.
