Description
ATTENTON: The Managing Pediatric Respiratory Emergencies will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 not November 4, 2025. This course will be awarding 3.0 Nursing Contact Hours, 0.3 CEUs and 3.0 Contact Hours.
This program is being offered in cooperation with UNC Chapel Hill School of NursingThis program will help you identify and manage common respiratory illnesses in children, such as RSV, bronchiolitis, croup, and pneumonia. You will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of these conditions, as well as how to differentiate them from other possible causes, such as foreign body aspiration and asthma. You will also learn about the best practices for treating these illnesses and preventing complications.

Objectives
- Describe common upper and lower airway respiratory illnesses in children.
- Describe red flags in the history and physical exam for each of these common respiratory
illnesses
- Discuss best practice approaches for pharmacological, nursing, and medical management of
identified diseases.
- Define pediatric age-appropriate management (including treatment/medications, prevention/counseling, and follow up) for the above stated conditions.
