Event Description:

This knowledge-based conference will provide LPNs from different practice settings the information and strategies to maximize their important role on the health care team and enhance their professional practice.

This educational event is jointly Provided by Northwest Area Health Education Center (AHEC), a program of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and by South Piedmont AHEC. Both are part of the NC AHEC System.

• NCBON: LPN Scope of Practice
• Transition to Acute Care Panel Discussion
• End of Life Care
• Pressure Injury Prevention
• Self-Care/Burnout/Mindfulness

Learner Outcome:
Participants will be able to gain knowledge about the responsibility and accountability of nursing practice and a variety of evidence-based topics which are relevant to his/her practice.

4.0 Contact Hours will be awarded to participants attending at least 90% of the program.

  • Compare and contrast the scope of practice and the role of the LPN with the scope of the RN.
  • Describe the LPN's responsibility in assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and delegation.
  • Discuss the transition of an LPN into the acute care setting.
  • Explain the difference between Palliative care and Hospice care.
  • Explain concepts of the management of end of life care for LPN.
  • Describe ways to prevent pressure injuries.
  • Identify Wound Risk Assessment and Early Detection Strategies.
  • Understand how meditation can improve physical health and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
  • Identify ways to incorporate mindfulness and meditation into your self-care plan.
