This event is jointly provided by South Piedmont Area Health Education Center and Advocate Health Southeast and Midwest Risk and Claims Departments.

We are pleased to invite the Southeast and Midwest Risk and Claims Management Departments to the 2024 Advocate Health Risk Seminar. This year, the focus of the seminar will be on building upon our strengths together and ways to enhance, energize, and refine skills we use daily to improve patient safety and protect the assets of Advocate Health.

The health care risk environment is constantly changing and producing new challenges in managing risk to the organization. Professional development and maintaining current practice standards are essential for a proactive healthcare Risk and Claims Management Program. To assist us in developing upon these key practice standards, we have three experts presenting during this virtual program.

Learner Outcome:
Participants will self-report an enhanced understanding of current trends in risk management, including artificial intelligence, nuclear verdicts, and their associated risk and liability exposures. They will also gain insight into the influence risk managers have on litigation outcomes.

Participants may earn up to 3.0 Contact Hours; 0.3 CEUs

Nurses
Nursing Contact Hours will be awarded to nurses who attend at least 90% of conference.
South Piedmont Area Health Education Nursing Education is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This meeting has been approved for a total of 3.0 contact hours of Continuing Education Credit toward fulfillment of the requirements of ASHRM designations of FASHRM (Fellow) and DFASHRM (Distinguished Fellow) and towards CPHRM renewal.

Objectives

  • Analyze jury verdict trends over recent years and isolate particular patterns with respect to damages, shifting societal attitudes, and mitigation strategies.
  • Recognize and define the types of artificial intelligence used in health care organizations and the importance of understanding their function as it relates to risk mitigation and loss control.
  • Discuss key elements of strategies to support witness preparedness.
