This course will review core material evaluated by any of the various basic and advanced nurse management certification examinations such as Nurse Executive, Nurse Management, and Nurse Leader certifications. It covers such topics as leadership effectiveness, operational structures, strategic planning, policy, and professional models of practice.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to apply knowledge gained from this course to assist with studying for the Nurse Executive Certification exam.
About the Speaker
Megan O'Connor, DNP, RN, NE-BC
Dr. Megan O’Connor has over 15 years of experience in medical-surgical, critical care, and logistics nursing. She is a seasoned nurse leader, having held nursing management positions in medicine, psychiatry, observation and logistics. Currently, Megan holds the position of Patient Services Manager of the Patient Logistics Center with UNC Health Care, where she has administrative responsibility for internal and external patient movement.
Dr. O’Connor received her BSN, MSN and DNP from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well Bachelor Degrees in Biology and Psychology. She currently serves as adjunct faculty for Durham Technical Community College and Capella University. Primary areas of interest that have resulted in publication or presentation include communication, interdisciplinary teamwork, organizational culture, and gaming.
