Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants
Impaired use of the upper extremities can lead to significant limitations in a person's ability to perform meaningful occupations. The use of the upper extremities allows us to experience our environment, and injury to the upper limb can not only have a physical impact but can also have psychological and social implications. Therefore, it is vital for those of us treating the upper extremity to perform a comprehensive evaluation to determine the causes of dysfunction. This course will provide an evidence-informed and systematic method of assessing upper extremity dysfunction. Assessments to be reviewed are an upper quarter screen, soft tissue dysfunction, upper limb tension testing, and scapular dyskinesis. This is a hybrid course that will first include a self-paced didactic online section followed by a hands-on lab section.
