Description
Join us for an exceptional opportunity to receive updates on the latest evidence-based advancements in primary care health promotion and disease management. Hosted by the Department of Medicine at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, this activity is planned in collaboration with 11 clinical divisions, ensuring a broad range of topics relevant to daily practice.
The program also features expert presentations from distinguished faculty across multiple departments within the School of Medicine. A key highlight of the conference is a dedicated 2-hour session focusing on the use of controlled substances for pain management and other indications, addressing critical and timely issues in clinical practice.
This activity is designed for primary care clinicians, including internists, family medicine practitioners, physician assistants (PAs), family nurse practitioners (FNPs), pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals seeking evidence-based updates to enhance their practice.

Evidence-Based Management of Chronic Conditions:
- COPD Management: Updates on a step by step approach that includes newly approved medications.
- Chronic Kidney Disease: Presentation on the benefits of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1s agonists in patients with chronic kidney disease.
- Type 2 Diabetes: Using continuous glucose monitors to improve glycemic control.
Controlled Substances in Pain Management:
- Use of urine drug screens in the management of opioid use disorder.
Cancer Screening Guidelines:
