Description

This knowledge-based CPE activity will provide the healthcare professional with a better understanding of the 2025 ADA Guidelines and recent primary literature about medication regimens for patients with type 2 diabetes. It will enable them to make more informed, patient-centered decisions and recommendations in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Continuing Education Credit For Pharmacists:
The University Of North Carolina Eshelman School Of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The program ACPE #0046-9999-25-007-L01 P/T (Pharmacist and Pharmacy Tech) provides 2.0 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit. To receive CE credit, you must complete the CE attendance form and the evaluation of the program. Statement of credit can be viewed and printed in CPE Monitor. Statements of CE Credit will be processed in approximately 2 to 3 weeks. **No partial credit will be available**

Learner Outcome:
Participants will self-report of knowledge gained on 2025 ADA Guidelines and clinical recommendations in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Objectives

• PHARMACIST: Identify the changes in goals and treatment recommendations present in the 2025 ADA Standards of Care
• PHARMACIST: Describe the new treatment options available for type 2 diabetes
• PHARMACIST: Compare and contrast the available treatment options in light of available safety, efficacy and outcomes data.
• PHARMACIST: Given a patient case, construct a patient-specific treatment plan that accounts for safety, outcomes and patient preferences and characteristics
• Pharmacy Technician: Identify the changes in goals and treatment recommendations present in the 2025 ADA Standards of Care
• Pharmacy Technician: List two new treatment options available for type 2 diabetes
• Pharmacy Technician: Describe major adverse events associated with new treatment options for type 2 diabetes
• Pharmacy Technician: Identify potentially beneficial agents for the treatment of type 2 diabetes based on patient preferences and characteristics.
